Surry County Education: Which school had most students enrolled in 2023-24 school year?

Surry Elementary School had the highest enrollment among Surry County schools, welcoming 283 students during the 2023-24 school year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed at the time, 50.9% of them were male, and 49.1% were female.

The most represented ethnicity among Surry Elementary School students was white, accounting for 47.7% of the student population.

Among the three schools in Surry County, Luther P. Jackson Middle School ranked second in enrollment numbers with 208 students, while Surry County High School welcomed 203 students to be ranked third in the 2023-24 school year.

Surry Elementary School is part of Surry County Public Schools District, which roughly covers schools within Surry County, with its main office in Dendron.

In the previous school year, Surry Elementary School also had the highest number of students among Surry County schools.

According to Public School Review, Virginia public schools saw an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 1:14 in the 2023-24 school year, which is better than the national average of 1:15 in public schools.
