Our Community Health Team Continues to Grow
Our Hampton Roads market recently hired two leaders to their community health team.
This team manages our community outreach programs in the Hampton Roads community as well as partners with community leaders to offer help where and when it’s needed.
Phyllita Bolden (pictured above, right) is the new community health director for our Hampton Roads market. Arnel Rodriguez (pictured above, left) is the new supervisor of the Bon Secours Hampton Roads Care-A-Van, a free mobile medical service that provides general medical care to uninsured adults and children who do not have access to health care services.
Phyllita joins our ministry after working five years with United Health Care in community relations. She has more than a decade of experience in health care, as she previously worked for St. Christopher’s Hospitals in Philadelphia, Pa. as well as with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. She also has vast experience in community partnerships, outreach and health education programming.
“There are many factors that contribute to the health of a population, and I look forward to collaborating with our community partners and residents to identify sustainable solutions to improve the overall health of our communities,” Phyllita says. “I’m excited to join the Bon Secours team where I know the work I do each and every day impacts the lives of our neighbors.”
Arnel has been with our ministry for 10 years. Prior to taking on this new role, he served as a professional staff development specialist in glycemic control and diabetes education at Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center. Arnel is a registered nurse and on a path to his RN to BSN program.
“Phyllita and Arnel are both proven servant leaders with a track record of establishing strong relationships with patients and with community partners,” Pat Davis-Hagens, president of Bon Secours Hampton Roads, shares. “I am pleased they have chosen to take on these roles in Hampton Roads. We will benefit greatly from their knowledge, passion for community health care and the energy they will bring to advancing our Mission.”
