We love our volunteers, and this year, we had some volunteers from our pet therapy program visit our Bon Secours St. Francis Cancer Center in Greenville, South Carolina!
“If you’re ever having a ‘day,’ just follow this group and see the love, healing and joy, and you will forget all your troubles,” shares Susie, volunteer coordinator. We currently have six teams who make weekly rounds at St. Francis Downtown Hospital and St. Francis Cancer Center.
“Everyone on the pet therapy team is enjoying the visits at the Cancer Center, and we appreciate the opportunity to come. Every week I either get an email or phone call telling me how special the visit has been,” a pet therapy volunteer shares.
A St. Francis Cancer Center team member shares our pet therapy program’s impact: “What a wonderful way to be GOOD HELP to our patients, families and staff. I cannot tell you how many times I’m almost brought to tears watching our sweet patients MELT when they see these sweet doggies. The gentle pats on the head, soft strokes and hugs for the doggies show just how much REAL therapy and healing you all are bringing to our patients. And our staff, including the doctors, absolutely LOVE seeing the doggies!!”
