82.4% of Surry County residents old enough to vote in 2021

Of the 6,563 citizens living in Surry County in 2021, 82.4% were old enough to vote, equating to 5,405 individuals, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained on Oct. 26.

Further breakdown reveals that of the voting-eligible population, 2,645 were male, constituting 48.9%, and 2,760 were female, making up 51.1%.

The percentage of citizens old enough to vote in Surry County during 2021 was higher than the state average, which stands at 77.9%.
