12,300 fewer people were tested for the flu in the U.S. during the week ending March 13 than were tested the previous week, according to numbers being reported to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The most common type of flu people tested positive for during the week ending March 13 were both type A and B with a total of 14 people infected each type.

The week ending March 13 was the 10th week of 2021. In the same week of 2020, there were 68,146 people tested, 36,737 more than in 2021.

There is an influenza division of the CDC whose responsibility it is to keep track of influenza activity year round. This group compiles and analyzes known cases in order to help states and local governments respond accordingly. Figures can change and counts can be adjusted as new information is learned from each patient.
