CHESTER and MIDLOTHIAN, Va. – The community is invited to join us in April for some melodious, hilarious, and whimsical fun as John Tyler, which is becoming Brightpoint, Community College brings Shrek the Musical to the stage! Based on the smash-hit film, this production features the story’s beloved characters, including an unlikely hero, a wisecracking donkey, a feisty princess, and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits.

Performances of Shrek the Musical take place in The Lynn Theatre, located in the T Building on the college’s Midlothian Campus at 800 Charter Colony Parkway, Midlothian:
April 1 at 7:00 p.m.
April 2 at 7:00 p.m.
April 3 at 2:00 p.m.
April 7 at 7:00 p.m.
April 9 at 7:00 p.m.
April 10 at 2:00 p.m.

The theatre is also offering audiences a live-streamed performance:
April 8 at 7:00 p.m.

John Tyler Community College, which is becoming Brightpoint Community College on July 1, 2022, offers more than 75 majors that provide pathways to careers in high-demand fields; transfer opportunities to four-year colleges and universities; and industry credentials and licensures. The college, with campuses in Chester and Midlothian, online classes, and off-campus classrooms, served more than 12,790 students during the 2020-21 academic year. It also assisted approximately 5,700 learners, including more than 2,700 job seekers, through its workforce development division, Community College Workforce Alliance, a partnership between Tyler and Reynolds community colleges.
