The Prince George County Board of Supervisors announced on April 27 that residents can participate electronically in the public comment period and public hearings for the upcoming April 28 meeting. The county is providing a Microsoft Teams link to allow those unable to attend in person an opportunity to speak during designated portions of the meeting.

This initiative aims to increase accessibility for community members who wish to engage with local government proceedings but cannot be present at the meeting location. The electronic participation option is limited to making comments or participating in hearings; it does not provide access for viewing the entire Board of Supervisors meeting. Residents interested in watching the session are directed to use the county’s Live Streaming and Video Archive page.

According to the Virginia Department of Education, Prince George County Public Schools District enrolled 6,181 students during the 2023-24 school year, reflecting a growth of 1.2% compared with last year’s total enrollment of 6,106 students. Among these, Prince George High School reported the highest number among seven schools in the district, enrolling 1,818 students during this period.

Demographic data show that white students represented the largest ethnic group within Prince George County schools at 44.7% (2,765 students), followed by Black students who made up 30.4% (1,880 students), according to state records. North Elementary School had notable enrollments as well; it welcomed both the largest number of pre-kindergarten students—46 children comprising nearly one-third (27.7%) of all pre-kindergarteners—and kindergarteners—119 children or just over one-quarter (25.1%)—in Prince George County during this academic year.

Residents wishing to make comments or participate in public hearings may join through a provided Microsoft Teams link on April 28.
