The Prince George Police Department is investigating the death of a 20-month-old child that occurred on Monday morning. Authorities responded to a call at approximately 8:15 a.m. in the 100 block of Blue Jay Street after receiving a report of an unresponsive child. Emergency personnel from Prince George Fire and EMS began life-saving measures upon arrival. The child was transported to Bon Secours Southside Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
Detectives are examining the circumstances surrounding the incident, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine both the cause and manner of death.
“The Prince George Police Department extends its deepest condolences to the family during this difficult time,” according to police officials.
