Matoaca District Supervisor Kevin Carroll is set to host a town hall meeting on January 27 from 6-8 p.m. The event will focus on the pending Marlbank Farms residential rezoning case (25SN1153). The meeting will take place in the cafetorium at Matoaca Elementary School, located at 20300 Halloway Ave.

This town hall follows a previous community meeting held by the applicant on December 1. It aims to give residents another chance to learn about the proposed rezoning and provide feedback.

The proposal, submitted by Jeff Geiger and Emerson Companies, et al., seeks to rezone property at 5700 Hickory Road to Semi-Urban Residential (SU). The plan includes adjustments to ordinance requirements and development standards for building a single-family neighborhood with 309 lots.

County staff from Planning and Transportation departments, along with representatives from the School Board and Planning Commission, will attend the meeting. They are expected to answer questions and gather input from community members.

Chesterfield County Public Schools is the only school district in Chesterfield County, enrolling over 64,000 students during the 2023-24 school year. Thomas Dale High School had the highest enrollment among all schools in the county during that period, with more than 2,500 students. White students made up the largest ethnic group in county schools at 43% of total enrollment, followed by Black students at just over a quarter of all students. Overall student enrollment increased slightly compared to the previous year. Chester Early Childhood Learning Academy enrolled more pre-kindergarten students than any other school in Chesterfield County during this time.
