Glen Sturtevant, a Virginia state senator, recently posted several comments on his social media account addressing the topic of manufacturing and political opposition in Virginia.
On October 11, 2025, Sturtevant stated, “Reshoring manufacturing in Virginia is huge for American workers, our security, and our economy.” In a subsequent post made minutes later on the same day, he added, “That explains why the Dems oppose it”. Later that afternoon, Sturtevant also wrote, “Virginia is the Play”.
Reshoring manufacturing has been an ongoing policy discussion at both state and national levels. Advocates argue that bringing manufacturing jobs back to the United States can strengthen local economies and enhance national security by reducing reliance on foreign supply chains. In Virginia specifically, political debates have emerged over economic development strategies and party-line divisions regarding support for domestic industry initiatives.
