Glen Sturtevant, a public figure and former Virginia state senator, posted a series of tweets on October 4 and 5, 2025, questioning the Virginia Education Association’s (VEA) endorsement practices and raising concerns about political advocacy.
On October 4, Sturtevant shared two links without additional commentary: “https://t.co/nyflWgcVDw https://t.co/l5bKDs55Pn”.
The following day, he criticized the VEA for endorsing Jay Jones and then deleting their post. He wrote: “The Virginia teachers union posted their endorsement of Jay Jones YESTERDAY. And then deleted it a few hours later. Where does @VEA4Kids stand on Jay Jones advocating for the death of kids to achieve political goals? https://t.co/1UnMeGs8Gd” (October 5, 2025).
Shortly after that tweet, Sturtevant tagged Elon Musk in a brief message: “cc: @elonmusk” (October 5, 2025).
The VEA is the largest professional organization representing public school employees in Virginia. Endorsements from such organizations often play an influential role in local and statewide elections. Public scrutiny over endorsement decisions can reflect broader debates within education policy and politics.
