Glen Sturtevant, a Republican elected to the Virginia State Senate in 2024 representing the 12th district, outlined his legislative priorities in a series of tweets posted on January 19, 2026.
In one post, Sturtevant addressed energy policy: “We also support repealing costly energy mandates, so Virginia can stay competitive and affordable for families and small businesses.” (January 19, 2026).
He followed this by emphasizing broader policy goals: “But affordability alone is not enough: we also believe in opportunity, accountability, and prevention. We need to do the hard work now so problems today don’t become crises later.” (January 19, 2026).
Sturtevant also highlighted education as a key focus area: “That’s why we’re committed to ensuring that every child can read at grade level before leaving third grade. Literacy is where opportunity begins, and education and workforce training strengthens communities, reduce recidivism, and make Virginia safer for everyone.” (January 19, 2026).
Sturtevant succeeded Siobhan Dunnavant in the state senate after winning election in 2024. He has focused on issues such as energy affordability, educational achievement, and public safety during his tenure.
