Glen Sturtevant, a Republican elected to the Virginia State Senate in 2024 representing the state’s 12th Senate district, has recently used his social media platform to address several policy issues including corporate tax breaks for data centers, education reform, and government transparency.

On April 8, 2026, Sturtevant criticized technology companies operating data centers in Virginia. He stated: “Big Tech AI data centers are dictating whether we can pay cops and teachers and pave the roads. They want the $2b tax break AND they want Virginians to pay for the electric grid upgrades. Eliminate the corporate tax cut and make the data centers pay their fair share! It’s not our https://t.co/tD3i9McFjK”.

Later that day, he announced legislative progress regarding educational policy: “My Senate Bill 568 has been signed into law. My original bill gave school divisions authority to limit instructional screen time on school-issued devices during the school day. Too much Chromebook time is hurting spelling, comprehension, writing, and other core skills.”

In another post on April 8, Sturtevant called for further information from federal authorities about a statement made by Virginia’s governor: “We need to hear from @ICEgov about this claim from the Governor. https://t.co/uU9j8ScyN7”

Sturtevant assumed office after winning election in 2024 against incumbent Siobhan Dunnavant as part of broader changes within Virginia’s state legislature.
