Early voting began in Chesterfield County on March 6 for Virginia’s April 21 special election. The main issue on the ballot is a proposed amendment to the state constitution that would permit congressional redistricting outside of the regular 10-year census cycle.

Chesterfield voters can participate in early in-person voting or use absentee by-mail drop boxes at Central Library, located at 7051 Lucy Corr Blvd. Voting hours are Monday through Friday from March 6 to April 17, between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m., as well as Saturday, April 11 and April 18 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, April 12 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

A second early voting site will open at North Courthouse Road Library, 325 Courthouse Road, starting Friday, April 10 at 9 a.m. Voting there will be available Monday through Friday from April 13-17 between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m., with weekend hours matching those at Central Library.

Absentee by-mail drop boxes are also accessible at the General Registrar’s Office, located at 9848 Lori Road. Hours for this location are Monday through Friday from March 6 to April 20, between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.; Saturday, April 11 and April 18 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday, April 12 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
