Chesterfield Board of Supervisors schedules April 22 meeting with public participation options

The Chesterfield County Board of Supervisors announced on April 17 that it will hold its next meeting on Wednesday, April 22. The meeting will begin with a work session at 2 p.m. in Room 502 of the County Administration Building at 9901 Lori Road, followed by an evening session at 6 p.m. in the Public Meeting Room located at 10001 Iron Bridge Road.

Key agenda items for the upcoming meeting include updates from both the Planning Commission and the police department. The board said that all portions of the meeting, except for any closed sessions, will be broadcast live on Comcast Channel 98 and Verizon Channel 28, as well as streamed online through chesterfield.gov and the county’s YouTube channel.

Residents who wish to comment during the “Citizen Comment Period on Unscheduled Matters” can submit their remarks via an online form or by calling a dedicated phone line before the portal closes at 5 p.m. on April 21. Those wanting to speak in person must sign up ahead of time by contacting Susan Wilson through email or phone; registration opens after each previous board meeting and closes at noon on the day of the scheduled session.

The public hearing comment form and full agenda are available online for citizens to review prior to submitting feedback.

According to the Virginia Department of Education, Chesterfield County Public Schools District enrolled more than 64,000 students during the current school year, with Thomas Dale High School having the highest enrollment among local schools with over 2,500 students. White students make up about forty-three percent of total enrollment while Black students account for just over twenty-six percent according to state data. Enrollment has grown slightly compared to last year’s figures as reported by state records.

Pre-kindergarten education is led by Chester Early Childhood Learning Academy which enrolled nearly half of all pre-kindergarteners this year according to official reports. For kindergarteners, Old Hundred Elementary School welcomed more than three percent of countywide new entrants this school year based on state information.

The Board encourages residents to review agenda materials before providing comments or attending meetings.
